My teaching is learner-centered. I believe in establishing an active learning environment where communication and collaboration creates a community of learners. I strive to be more of a facilitator of instructional methods and tools rather than a content expert who shares knowledge with the class through lecture.
Learning is a complex process that requires cognitive change. My goal as a teacher is to foster that change through critical thinking, problem-based learning, collaborative learning, and teaching strategies that require students to reflect.
I have are several goals that guide my teaching:
I have 6 years experience developing online courses and teaching as an adjunct for Tarrant County College. Due to my faculty development experience, am familiar with online, blended, and face-to-face teaching strategies.
Experience: 2008-2011 using LogiCampus learning management system
2011-present using Blackboard 9.x learning management system
Course Description – General survey of business. American modified capitalism and role of business within the economic system. Topical examination of management, labor relations, production, marketing, accounting, finance, and data processing.
Overall Course Goal – For students to leverage their understanding of business to have a positive impact on their personal and/or professional growth.
